Life of Christ - Homework Due 5/20

Hello kids!  Some of you may remember Fr. Tom Yehl, who was a Parochial Vicar at Holy Trinity some years ago. He's now at Blessed Sacrament parish in Alexandria.   He is a Youth Apostle priest, so I asked him to give your lesson on the Life of Christ and he very kindly agreed.

Next, today is the feast of Our Lady of Fatima.  Please watch the following 10 minute video.  Then do a little research on what happened to the 3 children whom she appeared to.  Last, what other miracles occurred as signs during those 6 months that she appeared on the 13th of the month?  What did she ask of the world?  What can YOU do to respond to her message?

The following is a short excerpt from notes taken during a 20th Century course Fr. VW taught a couple years ago about Our Lady of Fatima:

Portugal 1917.  God uses the small and insignificant to shame the powerful.  Our Lady of Fatima appears to three peasant children:  Lucia (10), Francisco (8) and Jacinta (7).  She tells the children over the course of 6 months that the world needs to pray the Rosary and offer penance.  In July she shows the children hell.  Lucia wrote that Mary protected them with her mantle when she showed them hell or they would have died immediately.  Lucia became a nun.  After seeing the vision of hell the children looked for unique ways to offer penance.  They remain the youngest kids to be canonized who were not martyrs.  

Oct 13, 1917 it was pouring rain, soaked.  The three children dropped to their knees in the mud.   The heavens opened and the sun plunged to the earth 3x.  The ground became dry, people were suddenly dry.  She appeared as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel holding the brown scapular.  St Joseph appeared with the Infant Jesus.  Mary promises peace if enough Rosaries and sacrifices are made.
